Abstract

The dissertation analyzes the well-known biblical story of Job in a new light. The author reads it from the perspective of temptation by the devil, and then derives from this the concept of absurdity. He conducts a discussion with Kierkegaard in this connection. He goes on to a new reading of the Apocalypse according to Isaiah, and finally analyzes the message of Kohelet, placing it in the light of modern philosophy. He defines his own position on the matter with the term ethosophy - the wisdom of existence.
